Writing Samples

The following writing samples are in MSWord 2003 format.

This is the review I wrote and submitted to Theatre Journal after seeing The Donkey Show in NYC. Unfortunately, TJ lost the review when it moved to new office space.

I knew that our production of Don DeLillo's Valparaiso required special notes to prepare the audience to wrestle with it.

For the world premiere of John Adler's AIDS requiem Memento Mori, I wrote these program notes to help the audience understand how the eclectic assortment of internal compositions tied together.

KCACTF Written Response: Burn This

For many years, KCACTF adjudicators followed up on-site visits and oral responses with written critiques. This is a sample critique written for a small Baptist college in central Kansas.

Concert Narratives: Follies and With Wreath...By Fred

For the 100-year celebration of Kansas City's Folly Theatre, this is the concert narrative I wrote for the Heartland Men's Chorus. Although I originally wrote the script for Mayor Kay Barnes, I ended up narrating myself when she, unfortunately, had to cancel.

With Wreath...By Fred is the concert narrative I wrote and read for two Christmas concerts given by the Atlanta Gay Men's Chorus.
